Welcome to Ledger! This guide walks you through starting your Ledger hardware wallet, installing Ledger Live, and securely managing your crypto assets. Follow these steps carefully to ensure your device and funds remain safe.
Step 1: Connect Your Device
Connect your Ledger device to your computer using the USB cable provided in the package. The device will power on automatically.
Step 2: Install Ledger Live
Ledger Live is the official companion app for Ledger devices. Download and install it from the official website:
- Windows, macOS, or Linux
- Follow the installer prompts
- Launch Ledger Live and select your device
Step 3: Secure Your Device
Set up a PIN code directly on your Ledger device. This prevents unauthorized access. Then, safely write down your recovery phrase (24 words) and store it offline. This seed is the only way to recover your assets if the device is lost.
Step 4: Add Accounts
Using Ledger Live, you can now add cryptocurrency accounts:
- Select the cryptocurrency you want to manage
- Install the corresponding app on your Ledger device
- Add the account to Ledger Live and sync your balances
Step 5: Send & Receive Crypto
With accounts added, you can now send or receive crypto securely:
- Verify the address on your Ledger device before sending
- Use Ledger Live to monitor incoming transactions
- Always confirm transactions on the device screen
